Not being a heretic winged, but the obstacles to large scale airline electrification are enormous. As the article you linked says, batteries are 35 times less energy dense that Jet A1. And let's not even think about the practical aspects of 8 hour (at best) recharge turnarounds, or the dilemma of the occasional thermal runaway un-extinguishable incineration.
Sure, people are on the kool-aide, but the dream won't necessarily translate. A bit like autonomous driving, when was that due again? It's been 'next year' for at least a decade and a half.
Grid storage? Sure.
City cars? Absolutely.
Electric 787s crossing the Pacific and Atlantic routinely?
