Substitution I suppose is possible, I haven't done any research on what might replace copper in electric vehicles for example. When we have self-driving vehicles, will most of us bother to own one or will there be a pool of vehicles for share or individual hire with just the flick of a synapse? A form of substitution as the required number of vehicles will be much less as will be the area of roads. There will be no traffic lights!!! No pedestrian crossings as our ID chips will talk to the autonomous cars.
