Also looks good with a current p/e of approximately 8-9, when you look at the 5 year average its about 21 and has even gone up to as high as 40 at the start of 2019. I also disagree with the lack of growth prospects that some analyst believe. They are slowly honing in on the Annuities market in Asia with impressive growth in Japan and just started hiring in Singapore too. They also have another growth avenue with their new venture into the lucrative term deposit market and also their funds under management is not too far off from Magellan’s which is currently trading at a pe over 20 and they can keep growing their boutiques funds management business which currently only makes up a much smaller percentage of their profit than the annuities. With Mitsui owning approximately 15-20% of Challenger, it also looks like an excellent takeover target seeing as they already have a partnership and challenger is expanding impressively in Japan. Significant tailwinds to come in the next few years too with an ageing population in Australia and and Japan/Asia , compulsory annual increases in Super over here for the next few years to 12.5% and a post Covid bull period still yet to come for value stocks, so a lot to look forward to , all in imho please dyor and best of luck to all holders
