yes a few months separate the decisions, but the internal view on company value should not change materially over those few months between DRP election decision and the IER publication. If you were given the choice of shares at 88c and you thought they were worth well above a dollar (trading value, without the control premium of the IER analysis), short termism for a couple of $grand doesn't feel genuine. personal tax should't really be a factor in the decision especially without any fr credits.
as the AFR and others above have pointed out, BDO are in the spotlight. coming in too high with an ier valuation may have scared away other bidders, as alternate bidders may not waste their time on a small improved offer (above the current 95c) as the board can't really recommend it straight off the bat if it's lower than the IER low of $1.48. more twists and turns to come?
