Not convinced they have anything to gain by attacking, per the first article. Seriously risks tipping the balance in the middle east against them - they have a fragile accord as it is with neoghbouring states.
I can't see the MAK statement as an attempt to gain Mehdiabad - they have indicated previously it's not of much interest to them. I read it as an attempt to win the moral highground on reasonability and thus try and force UCL to make their next move. It presents most reasonably, which may be part of the strategy, however UCL should only move when ready. Certainly that will at least in part require waiting for Takeover Panel Review decision which may be in the next week given approval for the review was over a week ago now.
I'm expecting a revision of the bid shortly after that decision is made and so we wait.
