the monitors arent the business - the data is the business however it is captured
if it was just about monitoring bud wouldnt have a sustainable competitive niche
the idea is to have sensors/inputs everywhere - either Buds or other groups from which Bud can obtain data - and from that deliver actionable intelligence both to specific lcients and then potentially a secondary market for anonymised aggregated data sets
nestle gets its costs down and can do peer comps of buildign vs building - then eventually that same data is part of - for eg - carribean factor/business centre aggregated data that funds can buy to get a sense of how hard carribean gdp is growing nation vs nation based on energy use - or govt can compare itself on energy costs vs other nations
with rvs theyll be capturing how far they go per day, how much heat, energy they need, etc etc - leading to improved design and durability of rvs, migration pattern planning by tourism boards etc
just one example
the challenge to break in is that without a proof of concept of how BUD's big data can help clients - it was struggling for takeup as is common.
so they;ve minted their own offering to penetrate the smart building/smart city vertical and will plan to proliferate from there
