Thred Ltd (ASX: THD, Thred or the Company) is pleased to announce the release of its new geo-locked chat and augmented reality app, Sweep.
The Sweep app is already available in Google Play Store. We have deployed the app in Apple App Store, however propagation may take up to 48 hours. Please note that until the both app stores fully propagate, the Sweep app can be searched under Thred Limited or Sweep app. Being the first release of the Sweep app in the public trial phase, it purposefully contains specific and limited features catering to the objectives of these trials. Thred app users will be prompted to update their app in either iTunes or Play Store, experiencing new designs and functionality around the core chat features. Moreover, and pursuant to previous guidance, several old Thred features such as channels, guest threding and connected accounts have been removed following user feedback. Sweep app is an evolution of the Thred app set to provide market leading features and a compelling value proposition.
Sweep’s target demographic is characterised by digital behaviour that is catered for with Facebook, Phone and email signups. In order to comply with design and user experience research, login methods including Google, Twitter and Office 365 have been removed from Sweep.
Existing users will undergo a transition process to change their login method. We are confident Sweep’s intended features and functionality are market leading and unique, engineered to leverage the familiar core chat app. Sweeps initial ‘hero’ feature release is geo-locked chats (henceforth called Geochats).
This is explained overleaf in more detail. Testing and Trial Phase The team at Thred has already recruited several trial sites in Sydney and on the Gold Coast to help launch and test the first trial phase of Geochats. Following these initial trials, a second round of trials will be conducted to refine the user experience, all the while broadening the number of locations Geochats will be available in.
