"KMS has recently taken full operational control of waste mining activities at Thunderbird as a first step towards transitioning to drill and blast, excavator and truck waste mining. This transition is expected to result in more efficient removal of overburden when the transition is complete
in early 2025."

Dunno if I like the sound of "drill and blast" in relation to overburden removal in a sand mine, I can't recall seeing any mention of this previously, only dozer ripping of the indurated overburden as required. In the Mining & Processing section of the 24/3/2022 KMS BFS Results Executive Summary, there is reference to "Minimal pre-strip is required to access the orebody with topsoil and overburden being excavated, hauled and stockpiled using conventional earthmoving equipment", no mention of drill and blast, so obviously a big change to the BFS mining plan. Maybe Piachetti and Son are having trouble meeting their mining targets within budget, hence KMS taking operational control of waste removal.

No doubt this change will add considerable cost to mining budget, maybe inside knowledge of this has contributed to the SP weakness of late... DYOR & GLTAH!
