Essentially it means that they are a relatively low margin producer whose margins will increase substantially if gold moves higher. The share price will therefore be relatively more volatile than say a producer like Perseus.
On top of the earnings leverage to gold they have additional trading beta because they are a single mine producer in West Africa.
