Hi Salpetie, thanks for all your hard work here and the 'outcrop' geology map. I take you point about there not being so much sand cover at this particular location (you still had to actually get there back in the day though). But I wouldn't like to be attacking either that ferricrete or the quartzite with a RAB rig. You'd probably get down a couple of metres with a blade bit in the latter, if you were lucky, and the whole lot could be weathered and potentially metal depleted down to 50-100m depth. Not nice drilling. And yes, those fly specks are old RAB or possibly air-core drill holes, and as Antipa has noted, average historical hole depth was 45m, with a lot of it geochemical drilling to only 4-8m depth. My feeling on the Tim's Dome anomaly is that it might actually be quite deep within the sedimentary sequence as well, covered not just by layers of weathered bedrock, silcrete, ferricrete and colluvium, but also by overlying NW-dippinig beds of Telfer sequence Proterozoic sediments. In which case Antipa will need to test it with deeper RC drilling. We shall see.
