While this was written well and feels positive, I don’t see it as a great announcement at all. Only 42,000 paid subscribers, given their product is now ‘paid only’ is quite terrible.

Their Q4 results had 4.33m monthly active users. Even if you said 10 users per photo gallery (only 1 subscription required to host the gallery, rest can view for free) that’s 433,000 users. And now it’s 42,000 - a drop of over 90%.

They also are no longer releasing Monthly active user data; that was regularly highlighted. Is this because it’s dropped so low that it’s scary?

Once advertisers see the 90% drop in user base, will they still be willing to pay the big $$ to advertise to such a small user base?

FamilyAlbum is a fierce competitor to TinyBeans, and they still offer a free option. Their inclusions for premium are also value-add and different (1s videos created from your memories for example). I think TinyBeans has shot themselves in the foot by not offering some form of free option, and I suspect the coming months will see this unravel.

Anyone else have any thoughts?
