Ah, my response on pre-alloyed powders was around the use of aerospace-grade powders, rather than copper/titanium mixes. Not sure how much effect this has on structural properties, but the website states that copper titanium alloys are used more for their chemical properties rather than as structural parts for the medical industry, so residual stresses shouldn't be an important factor.
Melting shouldn't occur though, as sintering would take place below the melting point. The patent explicitly states that TKF takes place below the melting temperature and that no phase transformations take place. Also, I recall that Titomic uses nitrogen as the spray gas because it's cheap and prevents oxidation.
