Part of manufacturing generally, not sure I’d Call it a massive issue though, we’ve been heat treating metals for millennia (iron, steel ....) and we even heat treat (anneal) plastics to improve specific properties.
Not sure ductility is what they’re after specifically (unless you’re wanting to make titanium wire from an additive Manufactured part) but more a reduction of brittleness or relief of internal stresses (annealing).
Either way - finc are just fitting i’s and crossing t’s ...... as they should. CSIRO have already done testing, this is for specific application. Good engineering practice and obviously they’re ok with the process / testing to date or they would not be investing in the full testing process to confirm numbers.
I’d be more concerned if they weren’t committed to such a materials investigation and the up side is once it’s done then TTT can give further quantative weight to their process.
