This is a paid tyre-kicking. The material strength and properties for real world applications is absolutely critical to TTT success. Otherwise its just a big hobby printer.
Consistent material properties that are comparable to other established manufacturing methods has always been the underlying goal for additive manufacture technology. Working in Ti helps due the high material cost providing a value proposition for net material processes (such as molding, forming and additive) but if it doesn't provide parts as strong as other methods then it has a weakened business case in my opinion. TTT have already noted that post processing is required to strengthen parts so they have to cost in large scale heating of the parts in the business model.
I will be watching for the results from this testing to see if the process can deliver. I think the promise is great and if they can deliver reliable material quality then it will deliver on the promise I will get in for the LT.
