He said Fincantieri had established local business operations in Adelaide, where the government has ruled the frigates will be built, and was ready to commence construction in 2020 as stipulated by the tender documents.
The company had engaged 400 companies as part of its bid, with 20 already qualified to start, he said.
Cabinet’s national security committee is expected to decide within four to six weeks on the winning bid to build nine Future Frigates.
