The question then is what do the economic settings look like which would entice a large enough proportion of that capital off the sidelines into Australian value add investments in critical minerals, battery & advanced material refining/manufacturing, clean energy equipment & recycling plants & of course the upskilling & build up of labour to perform all these new roles (which may include nuclear).
Noting Ross Garnaut, Rod Sims not just talking but putting enormous effort into planning for just the above for years.
And lets not forget Guy DeBelle - he would live & breathe the above & ways for Australia to embrace this opportunity, for it is exactly that.

So IMO the glass is half full on this - expectation that the budget next Tuesday will have the right mix, like the US did with their IRA, to make a difference.

I imagine in will not be too long before we get an update on Grant's discussions with Sumitomo. My 25 year business dealings with Japanese companies was often painstakingly slow and detailed; but once an agreement was signed they were solid, reliable and scrupulously fair business partners.
