I welcome the debate. For many years I was a proponent of neuclear power.
Then i spoke with a man now retired who worked as an engineer in numerous neuclear plants. He gave me the stats, and ended up with the comment, every major event has been unexpected and the combo of events that have created the meltdown become uncontrollable at a point. It is not a question of if but when the fourth meltdown occures. No one will predict it, nor will they catch it.
He quoted the 60 cases that he was aware of were catastophe was avoided. In each case the particular lead up events were detected and controlled well before the unstoppable chain had commenced. He said that was luck and nothing more.
