Days like today trigger forced portfolio liquidation - margin selling. Whatever is in the portfolio gets dumped onto the liquidity that exists at the time, and that's usually not much when you're talking penny miners, so the prices can get pretty stretched. I'd say that was what happened when the 3.5c low dealt. Got nothing to do with TNC per se, but doesn't mean it doesn't happen again tomorrow if the other end of the market is getting belted.
