Thank you for your post @gragou02. I think Education and Local Government are tricky industries that are very specialised which means there are many barriers to entry. I think the company that you saw was Proclaim which was bought by TNE and became their property system. The legislation and complexity means that it is not easy for others to come into the market, including overseas vendors. It also means that the solutions developed for Australia don't position well for other countries with the possible exception of New Zealand. It is hard to change them so people don't change often. The change to cloud for most vendors is pretty much complete so most Universities and Councils have recently moved, whether that be TNE, Tribal, Civica, ReadyTech, Infor etc so the market will stop the churn of recent years, although most didn't move to other companies, they just upgraded to the cloud version of the product they were using, although because Civica and ReadyTech were slow to do this change they lost a lot of organisations until they had made that move. After that people have mostly stayed on the solution they are using, so it will be hard to lose them, and ultimately hard to gain market share.
I think TNE will remain successful. Their client base is significant and sticky so that money keeps rolling in and their indexation based on higher of IT salary index or CPI means it will always grow. The growth should come from new products including acquisitions that they sell into existing customers as they always want complimentary products from organisations they trust.
