An announcement on the outcome of the Steering Committee and/or who was on the steering committee would have been my preference in terms of timing, but as it is this & Green Hydrogen is definitely getting lots of attention, some quick searches...

The battery storage solution is being developed alongside TNG Limited, Australia using the Vanadium Redox Flow Battery technology. The renewable energy partners include TNB, the Malaysian national utility corporation, and leading solar PV companies that have successfully participated and rolled out large-scale solar PV projects in Malaysia and globally.

TNB is Tenaga Nasional Berhad - Malaysian multinational Electric Utility which serves over 8.4Million customers.
    • it has a generation capacity of 11,296 MW
    • has a complete power supply system, including the National Grid which is energised at 132, 275 and 500 kilovolt (kV)
    • The National Grid is linked via 132 kV HVAC and 300 kV HVDC interconnection to Thailand and 230 kV cables to Singapore.
    • National Grid, Malaysia (Malay: Grid Nasional) is the high-voltage electric power transmission network in Peninsular Malaysia. It is operated and owned by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) by its Transmission Division
    • 33 kV, 22 kV, 11 kV, 6.6 kV and 415/240 volt in the Peninsular Malaysia distribution network.
    • Operations are carried out in Malaysia, Mauritius, Pakistan, India and Indonesia.
    • one of the 13 Malaysian companies listed on the Forbes Global 2000 in 2018.
    • Stesen Janakuasa Sultan Azlan Shah appears to be Malaysia's largest Coal fired power station owned by TNB at 4,100MW, they also have a number of large capacity gas fired power stations at 832MW, 1,440MW, 1,071MW, 729MW, 1,136MW & 1,500MW.
    • They also recently built (2015) 2x125MW turbine Hulu Terengganu Hydroelectric Project
    • In March 2021 TNB announced plans to import 100MW of renewable power from Singapore to Malaysia - this partnership was with Sunseap Group - is the largest and most established clean energy solutions provider in Singapore, with regional operations in South East Asia Pacific. We currently have a portfolio of pipeline and completed projects that is close to 2 GigaWatt-peak (GWp) of solar projects in Singapore and around the South East Asia and Pacific region. Their management team are very impressive - https://www.sunseap.com/SG/about/sunseap_group/mt.html

Other information from Wikipedia so it is a little outdated.
    • Malaysia's Electricity network : is connected in the north to Thailand (EGAT) via a 300kV HVDC 300MW interconnection & 132kV HVAC 90MW x 2 lines.
    • 2016 Power generation capacity connected to the Malaysian National Grid is 22,858 megawatt, with a maximum demand of 17,788 megawatt (remember TNB are 11,296 MW)
    • In the South of Malaysia, the National Grid is connected to the transmission system of Singapore Power Limited (SP) at Senoko via two 230 kV submarine cables with a transmission capacity of 200 MW each.

AGV's main page also has this understatement - "AGV is also working with Ballard Power, a leading fuel cell technology company, to provide solutions for the decarbonization of port operations in Malaysia and Singapore."
    Ballard Power :
1991 Commencement of a joint program between Ballard, General Motors and the US Department of Energy for the development of a fuel cell powered passenger vehicle.
2015 $5M strategic investment by Nisshinbo Holdings Inc.
2016 Zhongshan Broad-Ocean Motor Co., Ltd. of China with an equity investment of $28.3M.
2017 Ballard and Siemens sign $9M multi-year development agreement for fuel cell engine to power Mireo® commuter train
2019 Ballard launches 8th generation high performance fuel cell module, the FCmove™, for heavy-duty motive applications
2020 Fuel cell electric vehicles powered by Ballard have now driven over 50 million kilometers – enough to circle the globe 1,250 times

Circling back to 6 July 2021 when FMG put out their Green Team achievement statement :
    • combustion of ammonia in a locomotive fuel
    • a combustion testing device for large marine (ship) engines
    • ore carrier (ship) that will consume renewable green ammonia
    • Testing of battery cells to be used on Fortescue haul trucks
    • a hydrogen powered haul truck
    • hydrogen powered drill rig
    • production of high purity (>97%) green iron from Fortescue ores at low temperature in a continuous flow process
    • use waste from the green iron process noted above, with other easily sourced materials, to make green cement

So the Singapore associations grow. Linking what Fortescue/Suncable have announced with TNG/AGV/TNB/Ballard is not yet there, however this little teaser & FFI's MOU with IHI has a couple of items that are getting closer :
    • A hydrogen mobility project at Christmas Creek Mine comprising construction of a renewable hydrogen refuelling facility and deployment of a fleet of hydrogen fuel cell passenger coaches
    • A MOU with Hyundai Motor Co and CSIRO to advance renewable hydrogen technology for domestic transport
Hyundai : By 2030, the company aims to produce over 700,000 Fuel Cell stacks annually, and by 2025 Hyundai plans to become one of the world's top three manufacturers of zero emission vehicles, including battery and fuel cell EVs

Suncable's development rather than looked at in isolation, makes more sense when the existing market participants, including the largest vertically integrated electricity generation/transmission/distribution company in Malaysia is also investigating Hydrogen based generation & industrial processes such as vanadium battery integration with hydrogen production via PEM electrolyser. With a parallel development stream in fuel cell (end use) manufacturing.

Circling back to AGV's website & this statement could apply to the above :
