Why do you have a reason not to explore the option? In California in drought stricken areas they funnel rainfall down into known aquifers. The NT is dry but like a lot of Australia so much rainfall goes to waste. Capture this or ensure water management so it is focus to pipe down into aquifers it has worked in the USA. Simple science....
