Reading the reports, they indicate that the reason to haul to Perth is the trucks are back loading, so the cost is super cheap. I believe around 300 trucks a day go north up to Port Headland / Newman etc, and most come back to Perth empty. This project uses (just from my rough numbers) about 2 or 3 trucks a day. And I'm guessing that for domestic purposes Perth is a convenient place for Ausr & NZ distribution. Looks to be a win/win.
It feels to me that the final milestones are dropping like tenpins as it heads towards a final investment decision. They look to be only waiting for credit approval KfW for that component (NAIF done), export credit agency approval, and the equity funding package.
There have been doubters all the way through, and being a long term supporter its really satisfying to see this top management team succeed in a very methodical way. Go KLL !
