I have no idea why stock prices do what they do on a daily basis.
But, in this instance, a likely culprit is the 10-year US Treasury yield, which has shot up to 2.92% overnight, on the back of a higher than expected CPI release, and that seems to be what everyone is watching at the moment.
And, because of that, anything that is perceived as a “bond proxy” is having a hard time.
How relevant US yields are to the valuation of MQA, which is largely a EUR-denominated asset, is highly debatable, as EUR yields have not moved nearly as much and the EURAUD FX rate is actually at 2-year highs.
Which altogether indicates to me that MQA is better value today.
