Maybe other folk have deeper knowledge of how Cadia got going. I have been trying to get a handle on it - there have been so many separate projects (Cadia East open pit, Cadia East underground, Ridgeway, Ridgeway deeps, Cadia Hill), and a history of the processing plant development seems beyond ready access.
The Environmental Impact Statement from 1995 (below), before mining began says that the ore processing will be 17m tpa. This made it a very large system to begin with.
There are two concentrators there now, one with 26m tpa capacity, and the other with 9 m tpa (originally 4 m tpa). The documents say both have had numbers of upgrade.
I wonder what impact on efficiency there would be by having multiple processing plants, and upgrading them through time?
