"Anyway, as long as reserves continue to grow, the LOM issue is covered off.." again reserves can grow without resource growth and that does not change LOM. You need to do some reading to see what it means to grow the resource and to convert some of that resource into reserve.

Converting 1Moz resource into 1Moz reserve will not change LOM at all.

And in ALK's case the resource shrunk which means the ultimate reserves will shrink eventually - unless ALK drills more resources. Not sure how I can explain this (I thought I already did in a way that 9 year old will get it) but to advice you to do some reading on the subject.

There has to be a resource before it upgrades to reserve.
