I'm guessing much of that speculation is being generated by m0ngy and his slightly impaired side-kick. They've been banging that drum since Mr Au was proclaiming that Alex Passmore was the best mining executive in the world. AP actually did a good thing in splitting off the nickel and the current guy has done well to remove Venus. But as Patron points out that still leaves the issue of refractory ore and the Checkers Mill. My own thought is that there are better options around if they want to expand their Murchison footprint (but regional consolidation is no easy thing either - just ask Rally Ho!).

A decision on the short-list for the Southern Cross operation is due this month. I reckon the second stage of the sale process could happen much quicker than the first stage. Patron, from memory you indicated some interest there back in March (?). Do you still think it a chance or are you now backing Red5 to come in in a few months.
