Your comments around Minmetals are 100% on point. Everyone who allowed the Chinese to steal, and let's call it for what it was, STEAL all those beautiful Oxiana/Zinifex assets for nothing should be flogged in Martin Place.
The ONLY reason we manged to keep OZL was because it was deemed sensitive, within the defence area, otherwise the whole thing would have been stolen for 3/5 of bugger all. When someone calls the Chinese our best mates I always grimace.
The whole debacle was a national disgrace and yet no one was ever called on it, politicians, bureaucrats, FIRB, no one, but especially Owen Hegarty, who appeared to grease the whole theft.
Sorry, way off topic, but it is, as you say, historically relevant to TOE.
Still makes me weep.
