Video footage of a post run surface check on an MCST rotary sidewall coring tool. Note the upper part of the tool has been separated from the core magazine which is sitting in the rotary table.
Sequence of events as follows:
- tool anchor arm extends pushing the side of the tool where the bit exits against the borehole.
- Bit is test run with bit in stowed postion
- Bit is extended
- Bit is powered up.
- Bit is retracted back to stowed position.
- Not visible at this point is the pusher rod that comes down through the bit and pushes any core through the bit and down into the magazine.
