Buying shares off other shareholders doesn't reward the company - but it will contribute to protecting your investment from the company by minimising any dilution. Having shareholders take them to the Takeovers Panel has made the company aware that shareholders aren't going to put up with nonsense from management - but ultimately now shareholders have the chance to drive the share price upwards to a point where dilution is no longer a real issue and ATI can no longer get control of the company - and from then on you can bet that ATI will be making sure that the company is effectively managed so as they get return on their investment/shares.
