It was something I read from Reuters over the last week. Don't ask me exactly where, as I read about 100 Reuters reports every week. The figure I remember was 185 kt of contained Nickel in "ore" stockpiles. It is no wonder that factory floor, SHFE and LME Nickel stockpiles have been battered of late. The NPI industry has been forced to run in first gear and Steel production targets are being met by increased nickel blending. If the Chinese continue to run NPI in first gear then the LME and SHFE stockpiles will continue to diminish at the current rate. It is currently a battle between Excessive Pollution vs. Profits and Jobs. This is one of the contributing criteria of the N4 recovery. Once battery Nickel kicks in over the coming years Nickel supply will be further pressured. Great news for the good guys.
