Another option (and feel free to poo-poo this if it's not a possibility) is that a TH was called as early as possible as the grades were not fantastic to allow the directors to move around their personal funds to cover the inevitable fall in SP based of poor results.

I sincerely hope they don't do this, but in a previous job I worked closely with banking and finance clients who would think absolutely nothing of doing such a thing to cover their personal assets. Not that they were all like that by the furthest stretch of the imagination however.

The fall in SP prior to announcement has me concerned, I'll admit to a case of nerves as I think all significant holders would have. However, the last Quarterly certainly helped, without that I think I would be more concerned than I am, and adding on to that the additional amount bought by the chairman for me at least it takes it a few steps above a purely speculative punt.
