morning again,
my post got me thinking on this stuff and my fascination with technology.
Anyone who has seen me post over the years knows my interests - ground breaking technologies - and, with the odd dash of gold thrown in (and, probably would be a lot wealthier without the interest in gold as well).
But, mainly - it's technology and usually, but not always - technology that can or might produce a better world.
On MDR - my interest is not only that I think it already produces a better world (people are helped by this thing a lot - already) -- but, the way this thing may well go --------- no one knows.
At the moment - what is it? Well, sort of (and, I will probably do it a disservice here) -- it's an app. that helps people manage their pharmacy needs ------ it not only makes life easier - but, can make it a hell of a lot safer as well.
However - lets say it stays in business for a decade or 2 at least - whether the current owners own it or not - irrelevant.
What might it be in say 20 years?
Who knows? - The whole game is in a massive state of change - rapid change - and all things medical, pharmaceutical and the like are right up front in that change.
Take Apple - Jobs and mates started making computers in the 70's -- just computers.
Who saw the ipod coming in 2001?
Who saw the iphone coming?
Ok -- an ipad ------- ?? maybe - it's a sort of computer - very portable -
but, a music revolution and a telephone revolution - a telephone that has more computing capability in one little phone than we had in 1969 to send man to the moon and back.
Did Jobs see that in the 70's?
I don't know - I can't remember his history now - but, I will bet that the majority of people in the world didn't see it all coming and I will bet London to a ton of bricks that early Apple investors didn't see it either - no way.
Now - back to MDR and 2016 ---
look forward 20 years - what do we see possible?
Well - already, we have RAP and their diagnostic respiratory app which seems deadly accurate.
We also see groundbreaking stuff coming with other remote diagnostics ----- phone apps. that use saliva etc.
It's all happening in a very big space and in very quick time --- VR, AI (art. intel) - it's huge and it's coming like a train.
So - all this stuff ------- is it going to be all separate? Or, is it going to be integrated.
Are we going to be all over the place using things in a disjointed fashion - or are we going to incorporate it like Apple did into a device like an iphone -
or probably a better example - like google went from a simple search engine - into google mail, google, calendar, search, cloud - and god knows what is coming - probably google transport, delivery etc. etc.
So with companies like MDR - which is just on the verge of the pharmaceutical game - what's next?
Well - GP link, that's what's next.
Then - in the future? Medical diagnosis tools? -------------- Why not?
Hospital records? Why not?
Health records? Why not?
Fitness records? Why not?
DNA stuff? Why not - in fact - if it's to do with health - that's almost a dead cert that someone is going to do it.
Now - I am not saying this is going to happen with MDR -- but, if we look at the way things have gone - with the apple example and google -
well - health is a huge area ------- isn't it obvious that someone sooner or later is going to integrate all this stuff?
This is a really exciting time for technologies ----------- and, companies like MDR - well - we just don't know.
Who would have said that a couple of blokes in a garage in the 1970's would end up building the largest corporation on the planet before 2020 -?
But, they have.
Look at the biggest earnings companies on the planet now (is it earnings or is it MC - can't remember) - you know - the biggest transport company doesn't own any cars, the biggest tech companies that don't do anything physical - whatever that business is that is going around lately -
well - MDR doesn't own anything either - no pharmacies, no doctors surgeries etc. etc. - but, it is signing them up like hot cakes - where will it all go??
No idea - but, I sure want to keep an eye on it - it's all a fascinating time in history. We should all take note of the apples and MS's of the world - in the 'personal' space - they weren't the first in - but, they were very early - and, they were the first that made things human friendly (well, close to human friendly - bar the odd chucking a screen out the window
)
all my opinion - and none of this is to say it's a good investment or not ----------- just very very interesting.
