The Somfit is a sleep monitoring device equivalent to spending a night at a sleep clinic, according to Melbourne-based Compumedics.
The device measures brainwaves, muscle movement, and sleep conditions and then sends detailed information to the user's smartphone via an app.
Other key features include temperature, light, breathing, pulse, and sleep position monitoring.
Dr David Burton, Compumedics' chief executive believes people are eager to know more about their sleep patterns and learn how to better manage their sleep.
He said wrist gadgets claiming to monitor sleep were gimmicks as they are not able to manage brain activity.
Somfit is the size of a 20c piece and weighs approximately 20g, and will be available for purchase later this year for under A$200.
