This is very poor from management. Disappointing, but I had a niggling feeling that this would happen.

I've had a number of apps in the Apple App Store, and wouldn't recommend giving a launch date before having approval. If needs must, then you need at least a month between submitting the app and the proposed launch. Turnaround times for approval range from a couple of days to a couple of weeks, and you need to give yourself time to resubmit if Apple come back with any issues. This may still happen here, which would really screw us. The fact that the app contains proprietary encryption was always going to delay approval, so two weeks was nowhere near enough time to try and get this through.
