Hard to do the maths on this, $28.54 of franking credits per share (for 9.5% of issued capital, $78.3M worth) gone in the twinkling of an eye, I love those franking credits but I guess if they're buying at $36.49 with only a $7.95 capital component if gives them a huge franking dividend of $8.56 per share from the govt plus a nice capital loss for the books .
Then again, $41.35 isn't a bad buy price for insto's, hopefully the sp will go up by about 9.5% once it's all completed, that being the number of shares bought back - probably result in a SP over $46?
Only loser I guess is the government, love our tax system, thank you Paul Keating and Peter Costello.
