Hey Guys, in answer to the question how big is a BOP....
There are a few sizes and capacities...
Generally between 250 and 500 tons...
Comprised of two parts, The LMRP....lower marine riser package... And the BOP or Upper Annular Section.
Each piece is generally squarish in shape, in a frame assembly and around 6m x 6m on the base, and up to 6m tall.....
Normally a ship yard job to swap them out !!! As you need to float a barge under the rig with the new item, and then list on board using the drilling package...
