The sketches are by the geo and I think you'll find they are not to scale and it says that some place. I remember reading somewhere that the intervals will be about every 10 metres but I could;t find it in the reports so maybe I'm just remembering what someone posted here.
HC is right - it looks like they drilled almost down the middle of the of the pipe and the additional drilling around that hole will be to try and get a better idea of the true width and the direction of the pipe. Hopefully there has not been substantial volcanic activity in the past which has broken up the direction of the pipe. That would be very very nice but the chances are that there has been displacement and it will take a while to get the true bearings.
The pipe is the rainbow and the magma chamber the pot of gold.
