Of course it would ... the sale would bring money in to the company ... which in turn would impact it's MC/SP.
If word got out that a sale was on the cards, for a hypothetical amount of $20m in cash, the SP/MC would rise, which in turns leads to an uninformed market i.e. not efficient.
A lot of things need trading halts per ASX rules ... it's then something else to actually implement them correctly so that all people, not just those with deep pockets, benefit.
