Godfrey, the self proclaimed vacuum and cleaning specialist, shares plummeted 31% after warning investors profit will fall 33%.

Chairman attributed this to failure of management to recognise that stickvacs grew 60%.

He said "We knew there was a change coming, we just didn't realise it would be so significant, so quickly. We have people who have been in vacuums all their lives and no one really picked that the market was going to change that fast. I can't really say anything else than that."
