The reports I heard were that the buying team was placing too much emphasis on buying stock with heavy rebates and discounts and not considering the working capital implications and sale-ability. If it could be sold it would have produced good GM%.
You have to question whether the buying team knew what it was doing - likely the 'good' rebates were 'good' for a reason and 'good' for someone (just not DSH).
