Very interesting discussion. I have yet to see real evidence of a distressed stock sale despite all the hype of the pre Xmas clearance. I wonder what happened to all this obsolescent and unsaleable stock that is supposed to be hanging around? I've looked on line for a couple of quite expensive items that I would contemplate buying - a 50" Panasonic Smart TV or a Canon DSLR camera. In each case the price doesn't seem to be discounted and every one of the ten or so stores around me don't have any stock! I assume that the receivers are only authorising the purchase of items that have been ordered on line and paid for in advance. So what are the stores selling now? Ink cartridges and cables I suspect. I haven't been to a store but my son visited one recently and said there was nothing there that you would want to take home.

I suspect the Receiver wouldn't want to be committing to too much stock ordering for fear of losing further bank money if a sale can't be secured and all the stock needs to be liquidated in a closing down sale.
