I agree wholeheartedly. I have been fortunate to identify growing companies (BAL, BKL, VOC are good examples) which go on a nice run. But they also then become noticed by the shorters & they buy in & damage the share price. The best current example perhaps after BAL is ACX - a great growth story, excellent product but now the second most shorted stock. Whilst it hurts, I think that I must modify my personal trading strategy to say that once a stock becomes into the top 20 say of shorted stocks, it is time to reluctantly sell down & move elsewhere where normal market forces may hopefully apply.
