Apple is rumored to be developing an EV. Which would also boost the cool image of EV's.
Existing combustion engine powerhouses like BMW and Ford, etc etc are investing billions into EV's.
Some countries are considering banning new sales of combustion engine cars in the near future.
Battery technology is improving all the time. Distance shouldn't be an issue, but recharging at the moment is a bit of a pain in the butt, but will improve.
