Well, disappointing - looks like we are not all going to be millionaires by COB on Monday. I have been reading the summary report and trying to think it through.
I don't think the fund managers will jump onto Sirtex, as the headline isn't there, so there won't be a rapid rise in price, and could well be a fall.
The more important measure is whether oncologists will be more likely to use Sirtex after this trial, because if they do, sales go up, profits go up, share price goes up.
I think the outcome from the current trial would make them more likely to use Sirtex, as fewer side effects is very important, but I would be very interested to hear from medicos about this.
A question: Is this trial only about patients with advanced or inoperable liver cancer? If so, is there a trial using Sirtex as a first-line treatment? That may lead to a very different overall survival outcome. That would be very big news.
