Why would it be smashed due to non-payment of a share placing? The gap (between $3.45 or whatever GEM's SP is on Friday and $3.88) should presumably be recovered from CIPI or CIPI's trustee/ manager.
Why would GEM not go back up to $3.88 unless something else is affecting it (and Sarah Zeljko has already said that is not the case beyond a Canaccord broker report that downgraded the company from a buy to a hold with a $3.80 TP that at the time was lower than the market price on May 3?
