Spot on. Shorters want to make money. So do the longs, but the difference is that shorters will do things to try to drive the price down, all longs can do is hold, maybe try to up-ramp on forums like this. Shorters have enough volume to go in, do a wipeout of buyers by selling off at a lower price, then hope that panic sets in and other sellers lower their ask price to get out. If they do this often enough it can and does create panic and keep the share price down.
Shorters definitely got it wrong with ORE. I have been and am invested in it over the last 2 years. I read an interesting article that someone at ORE made an error on a spreadsheet that the shorters seized on, interpreting it to mean something negative, then they went in hard. So yes, shorters get it wrong. They do not have psychic ability, nor do the rest of us.
