    Townsville?

We better call Bob as it looks like Magnis might be building the three gigafactories at the same time.

State MP says battery plant consortium can bank on funding
DISCUSSIONS on funding for Townsville’s $2 billion battery manufacturing plant are progressing with government and private entities, according to one of the lead players.
Listed company Magnis Resources, a one-third owner in the project, provided an update on the proposal in its December quarter report this week.
“The Townsville battery plant project consists of Imperium3, Eastman Kodak Company and C&D Assembly,” the report reads.
“The Imperium3 consortium will await further details on the processing of the grant once Queensland Parliament reconvenes (this month).
“Further funding discussions continue to progress with government entities and private enterprises.”
Townsville MP Scott Stewart said the Government would keep its promise to provide $3.1 million for a feasibility study for the lithium-ion battery gigafactory.
“This is about reinvesting in manufacturing and creating jobs,” he said.
“That’s certainly where we want to be, creating jobs for locals.”
Townsville City Council last year approved a report recommending it offer land at Woodstock to the consortium, led by Boston Energy and Innovation.
A similar consortium, Imperium3 NY, has secured US government commitments totalling $US13.25 million ($17 million) to establish a Stage 1 gigafactory in New York State.
The US consortium involves Magnis, Charge CCCV, Boston Energy and Innovation, C&D Assembly and Primet Precision Materials.
A $US130 million ($162.5 million) 3GWh gigafactory is expected to start production in the second half of 2019 using the consortium’s proprietary patented cathode technology, which eliminates the need for cobalt and nickel.
The Townsville project is proposed for a greenfield 400ha site at Lansdown about 40km southwest of the city.
A Townsville Enterprise report said key infrastructure for the site would cost $100 million and that the project could be developed in three stages.
