Absolutely an advantage in my opinion. They'll have a far greater confidence in continuity of the grades throughout the deposit.
When it comes to mining it I'd imagine they will simply, progressively blast the Basalt cover off as they proceed. The qualifier to that is I'm no mining engineer!
