Management know everything about the situation and the substance of all of the insinuations and are best placed to judge how much of a threat that they represent. They have plenty of skin in the game. If they are confident, I can only consider that these insinuations are not really a significant threat.
The power of unsubstantiated claims is that they create uncertainty. Investors don't know initially if they have substance. But management does.
