I am taking this announcement as a positive move forward.
But I do have a question in my head. How will they conduct the 12 month monitoring of the draw down on the bores if there is no mine to be drawing the water for? Will they identify in the MMP the amount of water that they intend to draw from these bores and then proceed to draw the water and pump it somewhere? or will they simply draw on the bores for a period, say 1 or 2 months at the rate prescribed in the MMP and then extrapolate those figures across 12 months? Will that be acceptable to the EPA?
I hope that they only need to do this monitoring for a few months maybe at which point they can determine if the drawdown is not exceeding the limit or if it is they make alternative arrangements. e,g trucking water (only need to truck the equivalent of what the excess draw down may be)
